The book seemed promising at first. Sword and Cross creeped me out with its cemetery and church setting. I thought Arriana was mysterious initially but she kind of disappeared somewhere in the middle and so did h characteristics I loved about her. More than once did I feel humiliated for and on behalf of Luce's actions. If I had been entangled in a scandal involving death I wouldn't be as easily distracted with good-looking boys as she was. And in the end, when the big reveal finally unfolded, I found myself thinking, that's it? It was pretty obvious who the bad and good guys were. Character and story development just seemed...underdeveloped, for lack of better words. 2 stars because of potential and interesting first half of the book but not quite in a rush to read the sequel.
